Slow Food Nation will be holding it's first ever national event from Thursday, August 29th to Monday September 1st.
Here are some of the events planned:
Taste: A monument to fresh delicious food, the Taste Pavilions showcase an amazing array of products from across the country. Eaters welcome!
Market Place: Community and cuisine come together in the marketplace, where a farmers' market and urban garden set the stage for discussion about food.
Food For Thought: Ripe ideas and burning questions will be sated in the Food for Thought series, where leaders in food, health, environmentalism and social justice convene for teaching and discussion. Speakers and Panelists will include Mayor Gavin Newsom, Alice Waters (of Chez Panisse), Michael Pollan, Dan Barber (Blue Hill @ Stone Barns), Carlo Petrini (Slow Food), Marion Nestle and others.
Slow Food Nation Victory Garden: Inspired by the self-sufficiency efforts of World War II America, the Slow Food Nation Victory Garden in Civic Center will be a vibrant testament to the power of a strong community to feed and support itself.
Slow Food Rocks: Take an energizing break at the Slow Food Nation music festival, where the superstar lineup will keep you dancing until you're ready for more tasting. Gnarls Barkley, Ozomatli
, New Pornographers and Medeski Martin and Wood, G Love & Special Sauce and John Butler Trio with more to be added to the lineup in the coming months
